Happy 6th Birthday, Aubrie!
Aubrie Faith,
Today you are six. How did that happen? It always seem cliche to say "It seems like only yesterday" but really, "It seems like it was only yesterday" that we welcomed you into our family. True to your personality, you came in your own time - a whole 2 weeks later than the doctors thought - but you were well worth the wait.
You are third in a lineup of 6 sisters and it's truly the perfect fit for you. You adore your big sisters and love the time you get to spend with them. You always look up to them and want to follow in their footsteps. While you are a great little sister, you are a phenomenal big sister. You are so helpful and loving to your little sisters, they are so lucky to have you.
You have grown from a sweet snuggle bug of a newborn to such a vibrant young lady. You are smart, funny and a true joy to be around. Your smile is contagious and you have such a fun sense of humor. It's amazing to me how smart you are - this year you started a Spanish Immersion program and you are rockin' it! Who knew you would pick up a second language so quickly!
Simply put, I love that you are my daughter. I am so lucky to be the one to raise you. March 27, 2007 was the best day of the year and it was all because of you.
Happy Birthday, Aubrie. May this year be even more amazing than the last.

Happy Half-Birthday!
Averie & Emilie,
Today is your half birthday. It is also exactly one year ago that we found out that we were having not one, but TWO babies. To say that it's been a wild 365 days would be the understatement of the year. But I wouldn't change a thing.
Six months ago you blew into our world with a story all your own - that story is here. A story that I often go back and read and wonder - what could I have changed? What could I have done to make it better? Then your dad reminds me that it's perfect the way it is. Sure, your pregnancy and delivery wasn't anything like your older sisters', but it was yours - making your start perfect for you.
Over the last 6 months you have grown from teeny little newborns, who slept most of the day and night to chubby little babies who like to belly laugh and roll around the floor. Because there are two of you, it seems as though the time is flying by twice as fast. Slow down, stop growing so quickly. You are our last babies, take your time. There is no rush to grow up.
Emilie - even though you are younger by an hour - you are still bigger by 1.5 pounds. You have the sweetest chubby cheeks and rolls for days. You are either happy or mad; there really isn't an in between. Lucky for me, you spend most of your day on the happy side of the coin. You like to prove that just because you are the youngest, doesn't mean you can't do things first. So in true little sister fashion you have out-rolled, out-laughed, out-toothed your big sister by a few days and/or weeks. You go girl!
Averie - Our sweet little button. It's amazing how much you've grown. You've gained just as much as Em, but given your itty bitty start, you're still the "Smaller Big" sister. And while your sister may have out-rolled, out-laughed and out-toothed you, you are never far behind and I am pretty sure you're going to start giving your sister a run for her money. You are sweet and cuddly and you love being with your sister. In fact, you are always reaching out and trying to hold her hand - it's just the sweetest thing ever. I love it!
It's still amazes me everyday that there are two of you. Two of you to hold. Two of you to kiss. Two of you to cuddle. I just can't believe how lucky I am to have you both. Thank you for picking our family, we love you.
Here you were on March 19, 2012.

Here you are today, March 19, 2013. My how you have grown.

A Heart of Gold - Hair Donation
Over the years my 2nd daughter has NEVER wanted a haircut. Maybe a trim or some side bangs, but never a real cut. She's always wanted to keep her hair long and so that's the way it's been. Recently she was talking to one of her BFF's at school, who a few years ago cut her hair and donated. I wasn't surprised that this intrigued Delanie, since last year she went and had blood drawn in a blood testing drive for a friend of ours so it could be tested and analyzed in hopes to get some new research about Neiman Pick.
Well all week that is all she has been able to talk about. Cutting her hair so she can donate it so "people that are sick and don't have hair can have long pretty brown hair." I gave it a few days to see if it was just a whim and I knew it wasn't when she went and researced "cute haircuts for girls" on her computer yesterday. So I made the appointment her first REAL haircut. I will be honest I made sure about 100 times, just to be sure. She loves her long hair. I love her long hair. But her giving heart loves helping people more. So hair donation it was!
Here she is before we headed to the salon.
Getting her locks cut!
And the new do! I love it. She loves it. And she has about 10" to donate.

And just a few silly poses with her hair before we send it off for donation.

So proud of you, Delanie! Way to give, girl!
